Evolution of the Trial RulesOn the trial field, some things are just "understood" to be right or wrong, without being clearly covered or defined in the Rulebook. This gives seasoned competitors a distinct advantage over newcomers. Hopefully, reading this history will help both new and experienced competitors better understand how the rules developed over time, and lead to better understanding of judges' expectations, trial routines and scoring.
We are presenting these rules as we understand them and to the best of our knowledge. Remember that all judges are human and differ in their vision, priorities, and even in their understanding of the rules. However, the judge's decision is final and there is no appeal process. "What you get is what you get." If we're way off base about something, please let us know. Have you had an experience that might help others? We'd love to hear about it. Can you add some detail to routines, especially something that would be helpful to novices? Email me! |
